بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
__Indeed, We have given you, [O Muhammad], a clear conquest, That Allah may forgive for you what preceded of your sin and what will follow and complete His favour upon you and guide you to a straight path and Allah will help you with a mighty help. It is He who sent down composure into the hearts of the faithful that they might enhance in their faith. To Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.__ Surah Al Fath 48:1-4
- **The Necessity of a United Front**
Unity among individuals creates an unparalleled strength, transforming isolated efforts into a cohesive and powerful force. When individuals share a common purpose and align their principles, love and mutual respect flourish among them. This unity amplifies the collective spirit, enabling the group to achieve great successes.
The foundation of this unity is a shared covenant—a *‘aḥd jam‘ī*—which instills a group spirit and sense of purpose. Even when unity already exists, renewing and affirming it strengthens the bond further, ensuring all members operate in harmony.
Just as congregational prayers offer immense spiritual rewards, collective actions rooted in unity multiply the impact of individual efforts. Together, we form a united front, resembling angelic forces striving for a common goal. This collective spirit becomes an unstoppable momentum for progress and victory, whether in a battlefield or in everyday challenges.
- **Trusting Leadership: Hudaybiyyah as a Timeless Example**
True unity requires a leader to guide the collective vision. This was exemplified during the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah in the sixth year of Hijrah. The treaty, on the surface, seemed like a concession—allowing the Muslims to return to Medina without completing their pilgrimage. Many companions, struggling to grasp the strategic wisdom behind the Prophet’s (PBUH) actions, questioned and opposed it, feeling it was a blow to their dignity.
However, the Prophet (PBUH) showed unparalleled foresight and patience. He agreed to terms that, at first glance, seemed disadvantageous, such as the removal of his title “Messenger of Allah” from the treaty. Despite the apparent compromises, the treaty established a ten-year peace, which allowed the Muslims to strengthen their community and expand their influence.
Allah revealed *Surah al-Fath* during this time, declaring the treaty a *“clear victory.”* The wisdom behind the Prophet’s decision became evident soon after, as this period of peace paved the way for the eventual conquest of Mecca and the liberation of the Kaaba.
This example reminds us of the importance of trusting leadership, even in moments of doubt. Leaders, guided by wisdom and divine insight, often see the bigger picture that others cannot. Like the Prophet’s companions who initially opposed the treaty but later witnessed its transformative outcomes, we must place our trust in leadership during critical junctures.
**Application Today**
In our own struggles, unity and trust in leadership are more vital than ever. Just as Hudaybiyyah’s seemingly humble agreement led to a historic victory, our ability to unite and trust can overcome the most challenging circumstances.
It is therefore important to understand that the outcomes of negotiations occurring today in Lebanon—whether or not there is a ceasefire, and regardless of what may seem like a backward step for the Resistance—have been carefully studied and considered by its leaders. Their wisdom, grounded in foresight and strategic planning, reflects a deeper understanding of the broader path to victory.
We must put our trust in the leaders and move forward, whatever the outcome may be, with unwavering confidence in their guidance and in God’s divine wisdom. Together, with a shared spirit and a leader to guide us, we can turn apparent setbacks into stepping stones toward triumph. Let us renew our covenant of unity and move forward, steadfast in our belief that ultimate victory is assured for those who remain united and resolute.
